About Us

Dr. Benny Yee is an experienced general dentist at Simon Fraser Dental Centre, where he provides a comprehensive range of dental services to the SFU UniverCity community and beyond. A 2002 graduate of the University of Alberta, Dr. Yee is dedicated to staying at the forefront of dental technology, with expertise in Implant Dentistry, Laser Dentistry (LANAP, PIPS), and CEREC same-day crowns. Dr. Yee is Invisalign certified and  a member of the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA).

For over 18 years, Dr. Yee has enjoyed serving and supporting the vibrant SFU UniverCity community, which he has been a part of since founding his practice in 2006. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Yee loves skiing, basketball, and badminton, but above all, values spending quality time with his family. He also supports various charitable causes, contributing to the well-being of the wider community.

Dr. Yi Yang is a highly skilled periodontist who provides specialized dental care with a unique blend of science and art. With qualifications from Shanghai Second Medical University (1995) and Loma Linda University (2014), Dr. Yang is dedicated to improving patients’ oral health and well-being. Patients can expect compassionate and expert periodontal care tailored to their needs. Dr. Yang is a member of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) and the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA).

Dr. Chang is deeply committed to patient education and preventative care. She often engages her patients in discussions about the importance of flossing and maintaining optimal oral health. Her approachable nature and ability to communicate complex dental concepts make her a favourite among patients.

As a member of several associations, including the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA), the Canadian Dental Society of British Columbia, the Vancity Dental Study Club, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), and the VDEC Prime Study Club, Dr. Chang remains actively involved in the dental community. She is also Invisalign certified, enabling her to offer patients advanced options for achieving their desired smiles.

In addition to her clinical and educational endeavours, Dr. Chang is a proud supporter of the BC Cancer Foundation, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to the community and improving the lives of those affected by cancer.

Outside of work, Dr. Chang enjoys gardening, cooking, and unwinding with her favourite TV shows. She also shares her knowledge and enthusiasm for dentistry by teaching at UBC, inspiring the next generation of dental professionals. With her blend of expertise, compassion, and dedication, Dr. Laurie Chang is making a significant impact in the field of dentistry and beyond.

Dr. John L. Margitay has been practicing in Vancouver since graduating from the University of British Columbia in 1989. Specializing in endodontics and crown and bridge work, Dr. Margitay is known for his friendly approach and positive team atmosphere, making patients feel comfortable and valued. A certified Invisalign provider, Dr. Margitay also enjoys playing tennis and supports charitable organizations such as the Diabetes and Cancer Foundations.

I grew up watching my father in his practice of medicine and he became my first inspiration to pursue a career in healthcare. I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS/DDS) degree in Pakistan in 2008 and continued with specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery which finished in 2014. I grew more passionate about helping people during my training which focused on facial trauma, cleft lip, and palate surgeries and oral cancers. Currently, I am registered as a General Dentist in Canada with interest in implant dentistry and dental surgical procedures. I cherish the opportunity of making a positive impact in my patient’s lives that this career allows me.

I am the most passionate about providing children in need with a supportive environment to flourish in. I actively support the SOS Children’s Village, which is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides humanitarian and developmental assistance, to orphaned children, across the globe. (https://www.soschildrensvillages.ca/) In addition, I love finding out and supporting initiatives in this area by organisations like BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and Hope and Healing.
